As 96 million members know nationwide, there are many benefits of credit union membership. These benefits have been both praised and acknowledged by economists, talk show hosts, financial planners and even the Wall Street Journal.
One of the key benefits of membership is lower loan rates for real estate, vehicle loans, credit cards and business loans that help fuel our economy, especially during these challenging times. Credit unions can provide these benefits in large part thanks to our tax-exempt status.
Today, these benefits are under attack in Washington, D.C., and we need your help!
Both Houses of Congress are considering legislation to change the U.S. tax code. One option under consideration is eliminating all tax exemptions, including the credit union tax status. If Congress goes down that road, credit unions would face a very difficult fight to maintain the tax status we – and members like you – currently enjoy.
